There are shades of gray and not everything is always cut and dry. And of course circumstances have to be taken into account. I think that I'm a little bit TOO kind and too noral. It certainly hasn't gotten me to where I want to be in life, but I still try to always do the right thing, and I certainly don't judge other people. I'm not sure what Skiving is. Can you please elaborate? Thank You for your service.

In North American English, "shirk" is more or less equivalent to "skive". As in "He shirked his duty."
