The tales we tell are as old as us and recycling is more than okay. Seeing heroes enact well trodden themes is certainly understandable but each age needs new drapery. 17 years into the new century and we're only rehashing or at best resurrecting. Star Wars, Marvel, Star Trek, even DC...20th century drapery spruced up digitally for the 21st.

When and where will the cloak we throw over the invisible man find a pattern unique to this age?

It wasn't back then, and it isn't today. Greeks were just retelling the stories of the Egyptians and Mesopotamians millennia before them. Human experience really doesn't change that much. It just gets paint jobs.

However, there are differences between real mythologies and things like Star Trek, Star Wars, comics, etc.
