Quote:They also went on to do highly successful and well-selling comics for DC, so it was their gain.
Marvel, under Shooter were destroying DC in sales.
Quote:The Marvel that I grew up with and loved was admittedly sometimes late and plagues with reprints, but the comics were very indidual and had strong creative visions.
Quote:The comics that came out under Shooter struck me as bland and stodgy, as well as grotesquely overselling the mutant line (and I was originally a fan of Claremont's X-Men). After a few years of this, I not only stopped liking the COMICS, I even stopped caring about the CHARACTERS.
Claremont X-Men...regarded as the best in the title's history
Simonson Thor...regarded as the best in the title's history
Miller's Daredevil...regarded as the best in the title's history
Gruenwald's Captain America...(arguably, some like Brubakers run) regarded as the best in the title's history
Starlin's the Death of Captain Marvel...one of the best cosmic stories
Stern's Avengers...another classic run
Iron Man...Demon In A Bottle
Quote:DC has messed with their characters and continuity in many ways but, with the exception of Batman, I still maintain at least a vague interest in what they're doing and consider picking up a DC title. I have zero interest in any of the Marvel characters and still pretty much ignore the line.
I'm still trying to understand why beyond some vague feelings you had. Sounds as if you just don't like comics in general.
Quote:Am I representative of the market? I'm not claiming that I am at all, but you asked
Sales through the roof under Shooter, Warner even asked Shooter to get Marvel to write the DC characters because Marvel were crushing them in sales. MULTIPLE classic runs under Shooter...yep I'd say you are not representative of the market at all.
You address Omnipotence...tread carefully.
