Remember when there was great backlash and claims of conflicts of interest because scientists were doing work supposedly to push the government narrative that was the narrative that science was more or less stating was reality?

I guess it is now ok to only fund research that fulfill an administration priority. Hypocrisy at work, at least in some arms of the whole thing.

That being said, the government is giving money and areas of more dire need should be prioritized but to me it is chilling to see the phrasing used here. Grants may be prioritized for areas of need fine but it should be about the impact of potential results in areas of current and future areas of study.

And this has been parroted to varying degrees by the EPA and other agencies. I have not heard it from the NIH as of yet.
