Quote:If there is more ANYTHING, there's more death! If there are more cars, there are more deaths. If there's more alcohol, there are more deaths. Duh, that's just a given! Causation and correlation are two different things. And it is very important that most gun deaths are not due to mass shootings or homicides, because in that case the law was followed and that doesn't show the strength or weakness of a given law. Also, suicide is not good, but it's not a crime. Even if you're against suicide in all circumstances without any exceptions, it's still a person's right. Homicide is not.
Actually, there is no correlation between more cars and a higher rate of death by car accidents. Car accidents have been on a downward trend since the early 1970s despite there being more cars on the road. The obvious reason for this is that the purpose of cars is not to kill people. Guns, however, are weapons and whenever they are used on people, the purpose is to hurt them severely if not outright kill them. Trying to insinuate that guns just happen to correlate to gun deaths but don't cause gun deaths is ridiculous on the face of it. Of course guns CAUSE gun deaths because these are GUN deaths. Also, even if you ignore suicides, the U.S. homicide rate by guns is far, far higher than any other first world countries'. If you're saying guns aren't responsible and just that the U.S. is so much more violent than other first world countries, then we should not have access to guns due to our violent nature.
