as I never said removing guns from police was something that should be done. You are reading more into this than you should be.

And no, many European countries with strict gun laws have pistol shooting.

I am not saying to remove all guns, but the US's problem is ease of access. You have admitted as much yourself in other posts here.

I am not sure that people having guns in crime riddled areas makes a lick of difference. Maybe around the margins but without more of a change in culture and other fortunes for that area it is at best a treating of the symptom and nothing more.

Look into the Assault Ban that they had. After the assault ban was lifted, murders and violent crime went DOWN! Now there might have been other factors, but the murder rate did not get at all worse. So, there are places where it can be shown to be helpful.

Yes, the problem is with the WRONG people getting guns. That doesn't take away from the fact that MANY people can handle them responsibly.
