Look into the Assault Ban that they had. After the assault ban was lifted, murders and violent crime went DOWN! Now there might have been other factors, but the murder rate did not get at all worse. So, there are places where it can be shown to be helpful.

All violent crime has been going down. I think you need to be careful with your correlation. I could easily contend that there is a reason some of these weapons are favored by mass shooters.

Gun ownership is also going down, fewer people just have more guns. How does that factor in?

Yes, the problem is with the WRONG people getting guns. That doesn't take away from the fact that MANY people can handle them responsibly.

So, more should be done to stop them from getting guns by improving gun control measures, background checks and so on. Normal folks can wait a bit longer to get their gun.

And that is still ignoring that so long as there are so many guns out there in the US that just logically our rate of gun crimes will be higher than similar countries.

It does not matter that some people can do something responsibly. Need to make laws to make it harder for the other folks to not get them. If that messes with some normal folks here and there than it seems that a measure that potentially helps is worth delaying somebody.

Gun sales went UP! Waaaayyy up! Obama himself said that he was pretty much good for gun sales. Trump isn't doing anything about guns one way or another, so people don't have to worry about any restrictions or laws passing. Usually if you tell people NOT to do something, they're more inclined to do it (Remember the "Just say no." campaigns?). But the point still remains that violent crime in Washington didn't go UP, like people thought that it would.
