Quote: What conspiracy theories are you talking about? I certainly don't believe in any, outside of JFK's death and assassination.
The point about guns though, is that they are often used in self-defense (More than even Obama thought.) and that criminals are often deterred by them, so you can't just exclude people from buying them just because other people misuse them (Just like you can't stop one person from buying alcohol because there are people out there who drink and drive, etc.). Again, MOST guns that are used in crimes are NOT obtained legally!
If there were far fewer guns, there would be far fewer guns that one could obtain illegally. As for your claim regarding self-defense, "mass shootings stopped by armed civilians in the past 33 years: 0. Chances that a shooting in a hospital emergency department involves guns taken from guards: 1 in 5. For every time a gun is used in self-defense in the home, there are 7 assaults or murders, 11 suicide attempts, and 4 accidents involving guns in or around a home. In 2014, according to FBI data, nearly eight times more people were shot and killed in arguments than by civilians trying to stop a crime."
In other words, use of guns for self-defense are much more rare than using a gun in aggression, for suicides, or in accidents. Therefore, having more guns makes matters worse, not better.
Also, a BIIIG thing that people who don't care for guns either don't understand or never say is that mass shootings happen in places where peope DON'T have guns or protection.
