Why is that? I struggle with term limits, and go back-and-forth internally on the topic.

On one hand, I think limiting power any individual has over the governed is important. When I see Mitch McConnell or Nancy Pelosi, I see two people with the primary goal to maintain personal power and influence for themselves. Although I believe most people enter government with honorable intentions, after decades, I think their mentality shifts.

On the other hand, term limits have the negative effect of limiting the governed. It removes choices we might like to see as options for our congressman or senator.

If I had to choose though, I would be in favor of term limits. I strongly think people should vote for policy over people. Having competing republicans for Mitch McConnell's seat, and competing democrats for Nancy Pelosi's seat would be tremendously positive compared to the same people for decades.

Are you also against term limits for president?
