Yup. I've had cashiers like this before, but usually it's no more than, "OMG! You like that?!" That's right up there with someone in a restaurant negatively commenting on what I order.

As for the cashier's advice:

Depends on the part of the chicken/cow. Chicken thighs tend to have more fat than almost any beef cut. Wings are fatty, too, even before you fry them in butter. Breasts have about half the fat of most beef cuts. However, an eye of round roast is about equal to chicken breast. And of course, the fat content drops once you remove the skin (but the skin is good fat-- you want that), not to mention how you plan on cooking it (grilled is best).

Turkey breast is even leaner, having very little fat.
