Related to the topic below, but that thread is already full.

Have you ever been asked to leave a business for not buying anything?

I have. When I was a teenager, we used to try to hang out places without buying stuff. I was asked to leave. And I didn't wait for them to call the cops.

I've seen people told to leave fast food establishments for just using the free wi-fi or using it for a meeting. I though nothing of it.

I'm just trying to see if this is a normal thing or not. General curiosity.

I haven't - because it is the social norm to buy something.

Even in a shop, I saw someone asked to leave, because he was reading an entire graphic novel.

My mate got asked to leave a pub, as he had no money and was heard moaning at us to buy him drinks (we had just got a round in and I said I'd lend him £20 when I got to the cash-point).

Going to a coffee shop and not buying a cup of coffee at least as a token of good faith - I just find it absurd.

If I was meeting friends for a meal, I would still get a drink in first.
