Related to the topic below, but that thread is already full.

Have you ever been asked to leave a business for not buying anything?

I have. When I was a teenager, we used to try to hang out places without buying stuff. I was asked to leave. And I didn't wait for them to call the cops.

I've seen people told to leave fast food establishments for just using the free wi-fi or using it for a meeting. I though nothing of it.

I'm just trying to see if this is a normal thing or not. General curiosity.

I was asked to leave a pub once for not ordering alcohol.

It was a pub I frequented often for drinks on Friday and Saturday nights. It was my favorite local pub, one that I recommended to everyone. Early one weekday afternoon a friend and I walked in, and went to the billiards table in the back. Our plan was to play a game, then sit down for lunch and a few drinks.

The two of us and the bartender were the only people in the place. It was completely empty. As we're in the middle of the game, the bartender walks over and tells us the table is for paying customers only, and if we don't order a beer, we have to leave. It's not as if we were taking up the table and preventing others from playing because there were no other customers. It just seemed to be a bartender who either wasn't very bright, or who just liked exercising whatever power they had.

That ruined the mood of game, so we left. I still went there on Friday and Saturday nights after that. No ill will towards the owner for the actions of one bartender.
