I think the thing to keep in mind, one specific example or not, Hawking never bought into religion too much or supernatural causes either.

As far as I care people can believe what they want to believe but most aspects do need some proof to be considered scientifically.

The burden of proof is really not to disprove that a supernatural effect happens but that it did in the first place. And as far as I know, that has never been done.

That said, there are strange things going on in the universe. The curvature question alone (I was under the understanding that the universe was mostly flat) but if it was bent too much one way or the other that there would be pretty funny consequences, in my twisted way I mean funny.

The universe is pretty wild without the need for some of the other aspects. I am not going to pretend to understand all of physics but the multiverse idea may not be true. We cannot even observe all of the universe. And it is likely that we never will. Given the expansion of space and the speed of light being what it is.
