Oh, absolutely! They SHOULDN'T ever stop looking. There's the possibility that they're right (In which case I'm more than happy to be wrong). And even if they prove themselves wrong, their researches may throw up something unexpected about the nature of our universe. You never know where the next breakthrough is going to come from.

And I've banged on about relativity a lot. That was nothing more than thought experiments until it could be tested experimentally.

Yeah. I honestly think he was losing it a bit at the end, there. Hostile aliens were going to kill us, artificial intelligence was going to kill us, we were going to kill ourselves...
