Can’t believe I forgot this one! Probably my favorite song as a kid. Definitely makes the top five.

All three of those are totally new to me!

In the mid-to-late 90s I was mad into comic books, anime, fantasy novels and sci-fi, plus I had a deep need to be away from my (often violent) neighborhood. All of this became a confluence that triggered a desire to create and write my own stories. After buying Pure Moods on a friend’s recommendation, as well as Instrumental Moods (one of its tracks was Cusco’s Montezuma, which I’d heard a few years earlier in a beer commercial), I found that music served as a good catalyst for imagination. I’ve been listening to various world-music, new-age, and downtempo groups ever since.

The System is just one of many R&B groups I grew up with. Michael Jackson, New Edition, Prince, Aaliyah, Troop, Guy, TLC, Mint Condition, Jodeci, Tony Toni Tone, Boyz II Men, Brandy, Silk, were pretty much mainstays in my Walkman on bus rides in Jr and Sr High.
