Quote:Well for one there were a substantive amount of Obama voters that would go on to vote for Trump. So clearly peeling off happens. What does it say about your own confidence in your political party when you think they're so unattractive they won't compell new voters to peel your way? Here's the thing... since you have such a low opinion of Trump voters, maybe you and the rest of the cynical centrists could leave it to the rest of us to speak to them. I'm not convinced that you're seeing them as the are as much as seeing them how you need them to be in order to feel superior. I think we can do better.
Yes, all the while you feel superior to your fellow leftists. But you’re actually just engaging in ad hominem. I don’t NEED to see Trump supporters in any particular way the way you seem to need to see centrist Democrats a certain way, that is as moral degenerates.
I don't feel superior to my fellow leftists. I don't even know what that means. And it's not any more or any less of ad hominem that any thing you've said. By and large I consider you every bit as a moral degenerate as the people you feel that way about. Which is to say that doesn't really have anything to do with anything. In other words, I'm not saying that I think centrist liberals are anything more than what you're saying Trump supporters are. It seems to me that you want to privilege to morally judge Trump supporters as a political group while being exempt from similar judgments, but I don't think you've a good argument for why. More importantly, I'm saying, since swing voters are very important and you're not going to win any of them with this attitude, it's probably something you should keep under you hat. I would think calling people moral degenerates is a really good way to alienate people so... maybe keep it to yourself if you want to win elections. Seems prudent to me.
