one of the things odd about Musk recently is his hard turn to the right politically, his positions generally have been but I bring this up for the following reason.

He has a company that builds and sells electric cars, but his comments cater to the political right who are not generally known for their caring towards the environment or electric vehicles in the first place.

A generation ago, right-wingers usually took the idea that renewable fuels were a waste of time. I am sure that in reality, oil companies and their stockholders just didn't want dependence on oil to decrease. (Much like Musk doesn't want car use to decline). Now there are a lot of right wing doomsday preppers who like the idea of not being dependent on an electrical grid. I suspect something similar might be happening with the appeal of electric cars. I imagine the war in Europe that Russia started a few months ago has made less dependence on oil more attractive. Just saying renewable energy has some appeal to some people on the right, which I guess, might be a positive thing. \(loucheur\)

The political landscape has shifted a bit. It's probably not done shifting.

I would honestly be in favor of the shits. Alot of states have taken away tax credits and the like to favor renewable energy, or at least to not give them special advantage given to fossil fuels.

If there is some shift I will very much be for it. I just have not seen it become a major selling point as of yet. Right now it still seems to me that electric vehicles are not as popular on the political right but I will be happy to be wrong if that is changing.

To me it is an odd choice to make it siding with things. In general I do not get most companies making positions well known politically just because it alienates customers.

I have an example of that happening on the left as well. Just look at all the Hollywood liberals pointing out how much "bad taste" the public has with liking comic book films; or how some of them now seem to believe that men are obligated to watch films directed by women. Rich people on both the left and right are looking down at the working class and pontificating down at us.
