I imagine some have been in the loop on this but it was reported by the Indianapolis Star that a 10-year old rape victim had to travel from Ohio to Indiana to get an abortion. At present, she still could in Indiana but that will change soon.

For a while now conservative media and even some fact checkers have been skeptical or denying this happened at all. Not sure why they thought the parents of a 10 year old, the girl or her doctors would talk about the case to the media but the rapist was just tried today.

What is more tragic is that the AG of Ohio was on a media trail saying it never happened and many state lawmakers and talking heads are onboard.

Now it seems the talking point is that the rapist is an illegal immigrant, I do not know if that is true or not, but it does not change that this has to be among the greatest hypocrisys. And many conservative's in positions of authority, like the governor of North Dakota, said she should have the baby despite it being tragic.

If nothing else this highlights the sheer stupidity by many of these states. Forcing a 10-year old that was raped to have the baby while providing no support or underfunded childcare system.

Love the concept of the baby but apparently not the children out of it.

This is the clearest example I can recall of the need for rape and incest to be included in any state rape restrictions. I do not think the callous nature of the so called "pro-life" can be saved though.

When the story about the 10-year old Ohio rape victim entered the news:

Republican South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem tweeted that the story was fake.

The Wall Street Journal wrote an op-ed saying the story was “too good to confirm,” alleging it was false. Fox News, The Daily Wire, and the New York Post were all skeptical.

Republican Ohio Representative Jim Jordan tweeted the story was a lie.

Republican Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said there was “not a whisper” of the girl’s case in the state’s law enforcement system and said “likely that this is a fabrication.”

Then Gerson Fuentes was arrested and confessed to the rape.

Instead of mea culpas, conservative politicians just erased their awful tweets and conservative media began targeting the doctor who performed the abortion or focusing on the immigration status of the rapist.

This is just shameful, disgraceful behavior.
