Subj: I don't think anyone actually knows if a conviction would legally bar Trump from being POTUS again.

People have had a tradition of thinking Presidents are above the law.

They are not. If anything they are more bound to the law then anyone else.

However, we have approx 90 days until the mid terms and the Chump has yet to announce formally that he is running again, unless I missed a news byte.

The DOJ needs to review things FAST and issue the decree that he is barred from running for office due to misappropriation and willful destruction/flushing of classified documents.

After that, then pursue full action for the insurrection and throw him in jail.

PolitiFact explains that it's not exactly and open and shut case.

If it were just a matter of whether he SHOULD be qualified to run, I'd say the Jan 6th stuff is about as much proof that you'd need that he's not.  But I'm not sure that statute is going to be enough, and if the Department of Justice tried to "decree" Trump is not longer eligible, that would almost certainly end up in from of the SCOTUS.  I don't see them ruling against Trump in that circumstance.

Of course this is rapidly developing, but I'm just doubt things will be so cut and dry.

cheers,
