Yes he could usher in an era of single party rule.

As to being the most powerful person around, well he is no longer the sitting President and all the authority and protection that comes from that is now in Biden's possession.

As an ex-President he has some clout yes, and yes he has the mindless loyalty of many in the GOP that want to be re-elected, however after this raid and how the AG made that brief speech about what was done and how the DoJ does not show exception to anyone, there are some in the GOP with some egg on their face and Trump himself is now backed into a legal corner and it doesn't look like he can get out of it.

The Warrant has been unsealed and we are learning what items they were looking for, including nuclear documents.

If he is not supposed to have any of these such things then he has misappropriated them and they could proceed to enact the laws I previously posted and disqualify him.

If they do not then the laws mean nothing.

I am also quite confident that there is at least one mole in his organization. He demands loyalty but doesn't return it so I am sure at least one person has flipped.  They are likely doing so out of their own self preservation but that is fine with me at this point.

As to who it could be, who knows?

I am not thinking he is the most powerful person or anything. The thing that Trump does though is to challenge everything and hope he gets a favorable ruling. at worst it delays things alot and stops accountability.

His danger is the revelation of the rot with the GOP at the moment.

I mostly agree with you, I am just saying in general he is more a reflection of the problem that has been building in conservatism and is the face of that. Which is a major problem in a two party system. If your own party will not hold you accountable than the US political system will largely fail.
