You should read the OP. You'd see I mentioned this.

    Generally speaking the CIA and the NSA have both done their share of illegal spying on American citizens.

How does this statement contribute to the topic of the thread?

My thesis is that never in the history of the world has a Communist regime declined to employ secret police, and we are justified by that fact in declaring every single Communist regime in the history of the world to be evil. Which part of that would you like to debate? So far you haven't addressed any of it.

That if having a "secret police" is a sign of a tyrannical, authoritarian, etc. regime, by the definition given, we have a secret police and the US would qualify as authoritarian. In other words, every major nation by this definition engages in things like espionage, secret investigation, and the use of law enforcement for political purposes. The determining factor isn't central planning of an economy. There are plenty of countries that have a primarily "free" market system and engage in this "secret policing" including as I said, the US. In still more words, saying only communist countries have secret police is special pleading.
