Quote:Here is the question that has been asked repeatedly but is not yet answered: WHY did he want them?
Quote:1. narcissism. To him they are trophies
Quote:2. ignorance of the laws and regulations. No excuse of course, but not impossible that he was ignorant of the laws.
I understand that one of his defense strategies has been that he has personal writing on the documents, which therefore make them personal documents. If he were to think that the handwriting was incriminating or embarrassing for next administrations to read, it would explain why he took them (and why he wanted a special master to make a neutral judgement). It's well established that he is deeply insecure about his image.
It is a weird defense that is a massive reach. It is part of the claim to executive privilege. Which makes no sense at all really. Given he is claiming it retroactively, the current executive has not and he is claiming it against the executive branch...
Quote:The unspoken possibility (almost unthinkable for a former president) is that he is sharing them deliberately with foreign powers. I doubt this one is true, because it would be treasonous and I don't think he's that stupid - but that's the perception he's battling.
He is that stupid. I mean he had a few instances in discussions of just letting classified material slip. I think even on twitter as president.
I am not sure if he is going around trying to sell the stuff, but it would not be hard to imagine that he is showing off what he had access too and has examples on standby to boost his ego. He did have a number in his office after all.
He is a very dangerous person.
Numerous accounts of his administration and then this in the after effects let alone the near overthrow of democracy in the US. Which is probably the biggest sin and ongoing as it is pretty standard for GOP and conservatives to not accept election results and so on.
And the scary thing is he did that with no evidence on his side. Just a loyal party in a two party system that were willing to do his bidding and not accept results at this point.
Not a loyal party, a corrupted and intimidated party.
Few people had the backbone to say NO to this guy.
As to the documents, did he not host the Saudi funded golf tournament before the FBI raid?
So yeah, I can see his alleged pals from the Saudi seeing the docs, as he IS that stupid.
Executive privilege cannot be invoked, he is not in office any more. His handwritten notes on them do not declassify them.
His latest claim that he declassified them with the power of his mind still has people's heads spinning, even his interviewer Mr. Insanity.
Also if any agent of ours meets their end due to this leak, I think they could attempt to prosecute him for murder or conspiracy to commit murder as well as treason.
