In 2011, Marvel Comics published a Chaos War: Chaos King one-shot. The first story featured the gods of Zenn-La who, like the planet and people of Zenn-La, were definitely STILL ALIVE. Exactly how they were actually still alive was never even mentioned.

Finally, early last year, Shalla Bal and the Zenn-Lavians appeared in the first five issues of the most recent Silver Surfer ongoing series. Once again, absolutely no effort was made to explain why they weren’t dead.

Nice summary. It's not entirely inconsistent that Zenn-La could have been destroyed but some of its people and gods survived. Earth gods, for example, for the most part don't live on Earth but in adjacent dimensions so the destruction of Earth wouldn't necessarily affect them.

Personally, I would really like it if somebody at Marvel would finally get around to explaining away the "illusion by Galactus" retcon once and for all, and explaining how Zenn-La and its people survived their supposed deaths in Silver Surfer #122 and X-Men Unlimited #13. My only concern would be that whoever wrote that story should be someone who cared about Marvel continuity. Sadly, it seems there aren't that many writers (or editors) at Marvel who do care anymore.

The only one I know of is Al Ewing. Jonathan Hickman to a lesser extent.
