Quote:I'm a huge Daredevil fan. I just found this discussion board and I think it's awesome. So I have a question: so I've read in other boards how DD is a great martial artist but that he's totally outclassed by the likes of Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, and Captain America. Maybe it's out of bias, but I'm really inclined to disagree.
Quote:I won't say that he could beat them down with ease but from what I've seen of all 4 characters, DD is a definitely a peer, if not an equal. Cap might be physically stronger and faster, but DD is in peak human condition so Cap can't be vastly superior to DD physically. Shangi-Chi and IF are super skilled, with IF having the iron fist as an advantage, but with DD's senses, his focus, and his agility & speed, he could be a problem for both of them. And DD might not have mastered hundreds of styles, but the way he blends together what he knows, in my opinion, makes him a definite problem for any combatant, regardless of skill. So, where does DD rank in terms of fighting ability in the Marvel Universe?
I think the thing about DD that makes him a great character and a great hero is that he isn't the best fighter around and he doesn't have spectacular super powers. But he does have resolve and determination.
Like when he fought the Sub-mariner in one of the greatest issues Marvel ever put out DD 7. He was completely outclassed. He knew it, Subby knew it. But Daredevil didn't give up and that impressed Subby, which we know is no small feat.
So yeah I don't think Daredevil is as good at martial arts as Iron Fist or Shang Chi, but he'd give them a heck of a fight.
And I don't have to imagine what Cap and DD fighting would be like because DD 43 did it better than I could have imagined.
