Quote:And they really seemed to be playing up this Jesus as God thing, or at least dovine, as seen by power of the spear?
That's debatable. Roy Thomas' take on it was that it was powerful enough to destroy the universe, but that was with the power of the Spectre added to it. How powerful a force it is without the Spectre's power I don't think has ever been fully revealed.
Quote:Also how never should go back to Cavary,as Universe itself would get jacked up?
Well, they didn't actually say anything about the universe. Rip Hunter said that interference with Jesus' life could have catastrophic effects for the timestream, and that's a whole different ballgame.
The short life of that Jewish preacher 2000 years ago has had a phenomenal impact on Western civilisation and by virtue of that, on the world. Almost everything in our modern culture has been shaped (Or maybe bent out of shape), or influenced in one way or another by Christianity, for better or worse.
If Jesus hadn't been born, or had chosen a career other than apocalyptic prophet, or had lived to a ripe old age, then Western civilisation would be a VERY different place today, and tomorrow.
I'd go one further and point to the Emperor Constantine's adoption of Christianity as a turning point for the religion. Without that, it would probably never have caught on as thoroughly as it did in the West.
So altering Jesus' history wouldn't destroy the universe, but would drastically alter the entire future of Earth from around 30CE onwards.
