I'd have to ask: What paradox effects? Legends and Flash have been full of stories that should have caused paradox, but didn't. This is one example of poor storytelling. No consistency from episode to episode. Nothing's been thought through.

Understood. But with 2000 years to choose from (destroying the spear at any time would have the same effect) why go back to 1916 into the middle of one of the bloodiest wars in history AND with the Legion of Dumb there? And speaking of paradox...they're already there too!
