So the staff became her type of GL ring?

The odd thing about Jack Knight's Cosmic Rod was that, compared to his Fathers older original version, it was pretty limited. Illogically so. I may be wrong in saying this as I don't have a full knowledge of Jack Knight's series, or then again it may just be an example of subtle revisionism on James Robinson's part to make it a more manageable story device and rationalise its science into a more plausible scaled context...
Certainly though Stargirl's use for it never went beyond flight and power blasts, which are assets worth carrying it around for sure, and yet by carrying it as a constant Stargirl nullified her previous style and tactics and became reliant on the Rod for just about everything.
