The rest of the dialog I really didn't enjoy, it's Ben talking about how old time and out of date he and Johnny are.
See this is part of the problem I have with Marvel. The current Marvel editorial and writing staff seems to hate and scorn the concept of the Fantastic Four. I wonder why? Well not really. I think we all know why.
But that said, I don't see how this helps bring back the FF for new readers. I would think that if Marvel was truly interested in the FF, we would hear about how important they are to the Marvel Universe, etc. Instead, we hear just the opposite.
So Marvel is either prepping readers for massive changes to the FF....or it simply has no respect for the FF anymore and what it represents. Let's hope it's neither of those things. As I have said, I would much rather leave the FF on hiatus than bring them back under today's Marvel editors. At this point, I am happy to leave the FF in stasis until Marvel has a huge shake-up and steers the ship back on course. Brevoort and Alonso need to go. Marvel needs fresh leadership.
I can't disagree with you at all. I always think back to the last great event I can recall.. Annihilation, when Nova was talking about how bad it would be for Earth if the wave arrived and the line was something like, "But.., They have the Fantastic Four".. as in Screw you Annihilation wave. The FF will own you.
Probably the LAST time they got the respect they deserved.
