OK. A very good start. I enjoyed this debut. That's how a comic should be done. It had enough of everything to be just about right.
SPOILER STUFF SO DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT YET.
Considering that both Ben and Johnny were recently hanging out with Moongirl in issue #25, the whole "I don't want to see you" drama by Johnny seemed out of Marvel continuity. Not that Marvel cares about these things, but they were just hanging out together, LOL. Right, that must be something that happens later....
Doom is a ridiculously powerful anti-hero now? I haven't kept up on his IronDoom thing. But he handled Ben with ease.
The whole thing felt a bit like a wake. Are we supposed to believe Reed, Sue and the Kids are dead? Seems like it, but....maybe not. Ok, suspense is fun. I like a bit of drama. That's how it was in the heyday of the FF. So I will definitely be on board for the next issue.
Johnny losing his powers again? Ugh. Worn out trope. Johnny has the most fragile powers of all. Didn't he lose them recently during the Robison run due to Reed's bug spray or something? That was kind of lame.
Other than that, this is certainly a nice start. Hope this leads to an FF return. Marvel might see more of my money again.
The writing was OK other than the minor hiccups noted. A nice tribute piece I suppose. The art works well and is stylish. I'm satisfied that this team could do some good work if they can maintain the energy and pace.
