I agree! And wasn't Zdarskey's dialogue and characterization darn near perfect for everyone involved? Its really not a question. Doom especially came across so well with whom he was and whom he is trying to be in current continuity. Can't wait for the second issue!
Zdarsky IMO does a better job than Bendis did at balancing those two aspects of Doom. He's a tad more supervillainy here but I think he's more likely to be that way with Ben who hasn't bought into this new Doom. I think after the events of Infamous Iron Man Doom has given up on Ben changing things between them.
So this story confirms that Victor really doesn't know what happened to Reed, Sue and the kids when the Earth was restored after Reed and Victor's final battle. This shows that he will probably be joined the search for them. It will be interesting to see his first face to face with Reed since Secret Wars.
I'm also a bit disappointed with Johnny losing his powers again. It was such a contrast to read this after reading this week's Uncanny Avengers where he's flying around with Rogue. That looks like an interesting relationship. I hope it's followed up on at some point.
