This is a dumb question that's probably been asked many times since the beginning of Fantastic Four, but here goes.

How does Johnny Storm keep his hair from burning when he becomes the Human Torch? I'm sure it's been covered at some point before, but any reasonable answer you can give is great.

He's immune to his own powers. Most heroes kind of are (Firestar is an exception that comes to mind...her radiation powers gave her cancer).

And he's immune to heat in general I think. Like if you threw scalding water on him I don't think he would be hurt (but I bet he can get chemical burns from say acid). His cells were mutated by cosmic rays and are able to process fire so presumably his hair wouldn't be any different.

Kind of wonder what would happen if he donated his hair to locks of love. Would cancer patient kids who get Johnny's hair be fire resistant or would they be bursting into flame?
