It was supposed to be a younger, fresher, re-imagined FF for today's readers. There is no Franklin or Valeria. Sue and Reed aren't even married. So what went wrong with this series?

On the surface, didn't Ultimate FF contain some things long-time FF readers wanted? So where did it fail?

I would argue that the whole Ultimate universe failed, not just FF.
Other than Miles Morales/Ultimate Spider Man, is there anyone else from those titles remaining in the current Marvel universe?

Not having read very much of any of the ultimate titles, I can't give a specific answer, but I think there was a backlash against the fear that the original Marvel universe would go away and only the Ultimate would remain. Not sure if that was a real possibility or not... I'm pretty sure it was hinted at somewhere and got people up in arms over that possibility. I remember some threads on this board full of angst over that possibility.

Another thing was that so much of that universe was driven by Bendis and Millar, and it all seemed to die when they moved on to other titles. Again, just my "outsider" impressions since I did not read much of that. I actually got the first 25 issues of Ultimate FF at a sale at a local comic store in the past year, but haven't read them yet other than the first issue.
