No, it did. The "return" of the Doom Patrol was covered back in Infinite Crisis, and One Year Later in Teen Titans. A retcon punch kind of aligned all the various versions of the Doom Patrol into continuity, and believe it or not, it all fits, even the sacrifice mission.

Well, the Byrne version is gone. But that was the one which didn't fit into continuity.
