I absolutely LOVED the show! Wasn't expecting much, but I thought I'd at least give the pilot a try. So glad I did.
I'll give you two high points of the show for me. I kept rewinding the last scene where the newspaper from 2024 shows the CRISIS headline! Flash disappears after the Crisis, but the red skies are gone. Super, super cool! Also, the sub-headline mentioning the WayneTech/Queen Industries merger!!!!
The second highlight was when Barry hugged Iris. My wife said, "They'll never show him in a relationship with an African American woman." We're Black, and given our background, I understood what she was hinting at. Thought it was cool to be able to say, "He's going to marry Iris one day."
I'm one of the fans who lobbied for Wally West's return as THE Flash. And even though I'm Black, I wasn't impressed with DC bringing him into the NU52 as an African American. Personally, I don't think a character needs to be changed on such a fundamental level to garner new readership. Seems forced. If you want a Black character, simply create a new one and establish a rich history. Or... God forbid, spotlight the characters that already exist like Black Lightning, Static or Green Lantern John Stewart.
With that in mind, I really didn't expect much. But I'm walking away a fan of the show. And I'm genuinely looking forward to what the show brings. Even with the NU52 changes, the writing and production are of such caliber that I've been won over!
Thanks for listening. And take care!
