An odd choice in a sense as Tina McGee started out as a support member of Wally West's first three years as Flash and was created as his science consultant. The producrs of the Wesley-Ship Flash series then picked her up as a part of their fusion of Barry Allen/Wally West Flash's, and to the best of my knowledge that television series was the last time Tina McGee as a character was used...
Reviving her for the new series seems purely perfunctory and unnecessary. But nontheless an intriguing insight into just how big a fanboy-set the producers of The Flash actually are.

NONE of this is "necessary". It's just a fun ride and they gave us a really nice treat this week. (Part of me hopes we'll see her again. Her role was far too small.)
