If Dr. wells is from the future, then Eddie can still be the guy who becomes the Reverse-Flash.

The true name of Reverse Flash as I recall is Eobard Thawne, and he comes from the future to be the enemy of the Flash in the present.

Barring a major plot twist or some seriously screwed up writing, the logical answer about Detective Edward Thawne in the present is that he is the direct ancestor of the Reverse Flash, hence why RF didn't hurt or kill him when he took down the task force.

Go to the past and kill your direct answer is basically suicide by time travel. unless you are Phillip J Fry who becomes his own grandpa. \:\)
