Barry looks like a fusion of comic Barry and comic Wally, so him dating Linda makes perfect sense. Barry is a composite character and has a composite love-life.

I agree. I am old enough to remember the 1990s Flash television series, and that too was a merging of Barry Allen and Wally West's Flash. Ideally I would prefer they didn't lean on Wally's legend so heavily, but if the producers of a mass audience Television show want to make the character the best he can be then so be it. The comicbook shouldn't need to pick over Wally's reign to that degree however. ..
While it is understandable to feel aggrieved over the use of Linda like this I would take the view that all of this heavyhanded borrowing is actually Wally West's greatest tribute - his contribution to the Flash legend is so great they are actually making Uncle Barry into Wally West mkII. Deeply ironic allround considering Wally began life as the Flash tributing his Uncle and ended life as The Flash by being his Uncle's superior in the role...
