If Cold takes on a code against killing, it will severely hamper his ability to use Barry's identity strategically. I think that's the direction the show is going. I think Cold knowing Barry is the Flash will set up conversations between Cold and civilian Barry that wouldn't otherwise be possible, and may even set the groundwork for some sort of relationship between the two, always on opposite sides, but not always antagonistic.

Good point.

Snart does some to realize thanks to Barry that he can meet his criminal goals without killing.

I agree that Snart and Barry may well indeed have an antagonistic relationship, Snart may need Barry's aid at times and have to blackmail him with threat of exposing him to the world, and Barry may need help from Snart to stop the threat of the week.

I will say this though, despite Wells/Thawne warnign Barry about changing things, the situation is still better then a tidal wave wiping out the city.
