I mean ... since the Rogues are thugs, looting banks & jewelry ... isn't it a bit stupid to give Golden Glider a gold gun ?

Why would they need to be rogues if they can have all the gold that they want ?

I know that Mister Element/Dr. Alchemy has the ability to turn elements into other elements ... so the idea of a Rogue with such a gun doesn't come out from thin air

I also know that another Flash villain, originally coming from the rogues gallery of Green Lantern, Goldface had the same kind of gun.

Also, Marvel, the competitor, have many characters with the same ability (Goldbug, Mordecai Midas, Dr. Midas, Diablo, Golden Lily, Alchemy ...)

... but, somehow, I don't like a lot the idea.

If Golden Glider had been a golddigger before becoming a Rogue, it would have explained the nickname without the need to give her a gold-gun.

Maybe, it isn't actually gold ?

I would safely assume it isn't actual gold no, Cisko built the gun but common sense says it can't be conjuring up real gold. Though quite where it is drawing that endless substance from is anyones guess...
I do agree with you that Golden Glider on screen doesn't work. I can't be alone in notunderstanding her motivation and I am not at all convinced someone like this intelligent beauty would stoop to such unimaginitive and public criminality with a pair of chancers like her brother and career sociopath Heatwave. There hasn't been much thought put into her.

Her comicbook equivalent on the other is well developed and complex. A successful and astute updating of the 70s ice skater motif.
