If you haven't seen the episode yet, please stop reading if you do NOT want spoilers...
Quote:Well, we have a brand new episode of the Flash that has already proven to be more popular than the original with John Wesley Shipp. Before the second season started, I learned that the multiverse would be opened and explored in season 2. That caused me to be a little anxious because if it’s not done right then it’s a recipe for disaster. With the Flash of Two Worlds, the introduction of Earth 2, 52 portals that lead into Earth-1 (presumably) and another Flash, the writers of this episode have proven they can handle the prospect of another Earth just fine. Let’s just hope they don’t go overboard with it.
Quote:So, Jay was fighting Zoom when the singularity opened back in season 1 of the Flash. That means, barring some kind of time travel, Eddie Thawne cannot be Zoom. And yes, you read that correctly and I’ll say it again: Eddie Thawne cannot be Zoom unless some kind of clever time travel plot device is involved (which I doubt). Zoom didn’t look all that blue in this episode, he looked more black to me. Plus, that obvious monsterous face is just...not natural. Perhaps the writers have combined Zoom with the Black Flash, which is the Grim Reaper of Speedsters. This is not out of the question considering the fact that if Dr. Wells and Eddie Thawne became one person, they both would be Hunter Zolomon AKA Zoom as both characters share a lot of similarities. Don’t believe me? Ask me about those similarities and I’ll clarify.
Quote:Jay Garrick lost his speed and he doesn’t know how. It doesn’t make much sense because all that happened was being pulled through a portal into Barry’s reality. Let’s hope it’s better explained later on because I find it tough to swallow how someone can lose their speed simply by being sucked through a portal onto another Earth. Then again, maybe the “Speed Force†has not fully formed yet since the Reverse Flash had to use technology to power himself up with speed. One final thought here: I smiled when Jay told his origin, which is very close to his actual origin in the comics. It’s a nice touch and realistic. We also know Jay has been the Flash for two years and this explains how young he is. Honestly, I do like a younger Jay instead of an older one. Here’s hoping he will get his speed back someday soon.
Quote:Locking Jay up in the S.T.A.R. Labs makeshift prison is a little extreme. I can understand Barry’s caution since Jay has told them a pretty wild tale from their perspective. But Caitlin determined that Jay was telling the truth. There was simply no need to lock Jay up like a criminal in one of those cells. I found this very odd and far too extreme. Jay deserved better than that and be given the benefit of the doubt.
Quote:Zoom strikes me as a man who seems to be after Jay rather than Barry Allen. Zoom is Jay’s enemy after all, but the other Flash on Earth-1 is Barry Allen since Jay lost his powers and cannot be the Flash at the moment. I just really think Zoom is after Jay since both are from the same Earth. And then after the episode ended, it's all clarified for me. Zoom wants to be the only speedster. It all makes sense now. And since Zoom is aware of other Earths, he poses a threat to the entire Multiverse. He needs to be stopped and I hope the writers give the audience more reasons why Zoom needs to be stopped. I also hope his threat level increases. I only hope that by seasons end, Barry ends up stopping him instead of a plot device (like Eddie Thawne shooting himself to save Barry last season). This time, I'd really like Barry to stop the big bad this time around. No plot devices, no cheap tricks.
Quote:Patty Spivot...I like her already and she also happens to be very beautiful. She’s a little too eager to prove herself and very obviously a rookie. But she’s very likable and I get the feeling that she’s going to be the new love interest of Barry Allen this season, which is not surprising because it always takes forever for the writers of any TV show to get a couple to be together who are destined for one another. Barry and Officer Spivot have great chemistry so it’s easy to see them as a couple soon enough.
Quote:At first I began to wonder why Barry did not trust Jay’s story, but then as I watched more of the episode, it became clear. Jay is a scientist and he reminds Barry too much of Harrison Wells. This leads to some good character building moments and I love that in shows like this. Without these moments among the various cast members, the Flash would never have made it to season 2.
Quote:Barry undergoes training by Jay to learn a brand new ability. To my mind, Barry already has plenty of power and doesn’t need any more. But this episode showed me that there are aspects of Barry’s speed that he can utilize without becoming overpowered. It’s a new power that makes sense, at least to me. And then the two Flash’s work together to save Officer Spivot. It's a start of a bond between two men who will someday become like brothers.
Quote:This episode works really well with only a few weak points that I just find that there wasn’t really enough elaboration on. But for the most part, it’s a solid episode that closed off with a final scene where we see what can only be the Earth-2 version of Harrison Wells. Who wants to bet he’s going to be making his way to Earth-1? Speaking for myself, I’d rather the writers use the Harrison Wells from Barry’s reality because without the Reverse Flash’s existence (he was erased), Harrison Wells never would have been killed by the Reverse Flash so logically he should still exist in Barry’s reality.
Quote:Cisco continues having visions of what has already happened and that means his power has grown. Before now, he could only see in alternate realities and now he can see in the same reality an event that has already happened. It will be interesting to see this side plot about Cisco continue to develop.
Quote:This episode gets a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Quote:Easter Eggs: Blackgate prison is mentioned. To the Batman fans, this prison is located in Gotham Bay. Some fans have actually claimed that Batman does not exist in Flash/Arrow Universe. But I beg to differ. Not only was a Wayne Tech easter egg spotted in the Season 1 Premiere, but Blackgate prison was mentioned in this episode and that means Gotham City exists and THAT means Bruce Wayne exists and THAT means that Batman DOES exist in the Flash/Arrow Universe. Will we see him? Most likely not. This is due to the Batman V. Superman Movie coming out as well as a rebooted Batman franchise with Ben Afleck. So, logically, Batman would be forbidden to appear on either Flash or Arrow. But just because Batman is forbidden to ever appear in these shows does not mean he does not exist. The evidence suggest strongly that he does.
Quote:And yet another easter egg towards the New 52. Seriously, Flash writers you don't need to cram that in practically EVERY episode! We get it already!
Quote:Edited to Add: In a recent interview with Teddy Sears (Jay Garrick), he states that Zoom "stole" Jay's speed. I really wish this had been made more clear in the episode. Or maybe it was and I zoned out or something.
Quote:Here's a fun fact: In the comics "Flash of Two Worlds", it is Barry who travels to Earth-2, not Jay who travels to Earth Prime (Earth-1).
Quote:And then I find out that Sand Demon is a Firestorm villain. *Sigh* Bad enough Arrow is stealing villians from Batman's rogues gallery, but now Flash is stealing villains too. Flash has PLENTY of his own!
Quote:So, Jay has 2 years of experience being the Flash...methinks he should have had more to be a more effective mentor to Barry.
Personally I think Earth 2 Henry Allen is Zoom and that Jay knows this and is keeping quiet.
I think the first thing Jay did when he came to Earth 1 was try to find Zoom's Earth 1 counterpart and quickly realized Henry's son was Earth 1's Flash.
Jay's a good guy but I think sitting on this information is going to make Barry want nothing to do with him for a while.
