It needs to be said. It is odd that Ronnie is being replaced so soon as Firestorm when he barely started. I know it has happened in the comics but at least then it took a lot longer. I understand that the writing staff for Legends of Tomorrow is going for ethnic diversity (based on what I’ve read), but the writers could have just used a different character instead of replacing Firestorm. Then again, maybe Robbie Amell’s schedule interferes with Legends of Tomorrow. Whatever the reason, Jax is a worthy replacement and I look forward to seeing the actors take on Firestorm. I especially look forward to see if Firestorm actually gains the ability to transmute matter into something else like he can in the comics.

Robbie Amell's schedule is why he isn't around. He's been cast on the X-Files reboot. His career is starting to take off from what I gather so he's probably got too much on his plate to ever come back as anything more than a guest star.

I think they kept the Firestorm idea for the following reasons:

1. Victor Garber is too good an actor to lose.

2. There already was a precedent in the comics for replacing Ronnie with a black guy. So it's not being unfaithful to the comics.

3. They could have went the Jason Rousch route but they already introduced Jason last season and he was a scientist just like Ronnie. He wouldn't have offered anything new. This Jay Jackson guy is more like comics Ronnie.

(all that said...was I the only who cringed when Dr. Stein told Jax to use his natural athletic ability...sounded unintentionally racist but I know he meant because Jax was a football player not because he was black)

KING SHARK! Those teeth Patty brought to Barry is an obvious nod to the comic character. And after Grodd’s appearance last season that was met with a very positive fan reaction, I would not be surprised if King Shark suddenly appeared in a future episode. If anything, the special effect staff will be up to the task when it comes to bringing him to life.

And then of COURSE King Shark shows up at the end of the episode after I write that paragraph! As expected, he looks simply awesome! And scary. Definately something I never want to meet in a dark alley. And taken out far too easily. Let's hope Flash and King Shark have an extended fight in a later episode.

He reminded me of the Street Sharks. He was one of those things that was so lame it circled around and became awesome. And him showing up at the end just seemed so random. I laughed uncontrollably.

After what Iris’s mom did to her, I admire her for facing a person that walked out on her life. Especially considering that Iris was told the truth by her dad. It took guts to see a woman who caused her pain and it is not an easy thing to do. I myself have no idea what that feels like but I do have a friend who does. I was not surprised to see that Iris basically told her mom off before walking away and I fully expect that Francine has a hidden motive behind her visit to Central City other than being fatally ill. I do not think Francine will be seen much after this episode because I think she is just here as a set up to Wally West.

I think we'll see her a few more times.

If Joe is Wally's father (an article I read says he is) then Joe should be furious that Francine never gave him a chance to raise his son.

The story was predictable and I should have recognized that sooner. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the overall story as well as the side plots. It was an enjoyable episode to watch as usual even though it was predictable.

I always love seeing Patty Spivott’s character but she does not have much to do and serves very little to the story other than some good scenes with Barry. I hope the writers rectify this problem and soon. Good thing she saw a little action at the end there with King Shark, I hope we see more of that. She is a cop after all.

There's something about her that kind of annoys me. To me they're trying too hard to make her this loveable goofball Barry falls for.

She might be perfect for Barry if they stop writing her like she's perfect for Barry. Once we've seen her bad days then I might like her. Right now she's a little TOO perfect.

And finally, we see another Metahuman. I was beginning to wonder if any of them even existed anymore. Seeing yet another character from Earth-2 was already getting tiresome.

Love the reveal in the very end where Earth-2 Dr. Wells reveals to Barry who he is. I can’t wait for the next episode!

    A solid 4 out of 5 stars.

I would rate this one a three. This was one of the more boring episodes. The random manshark might bump it up a half star.
