In season 1, the Flash never chose to go after Reverse Flash and ended up just reacting to the villain whenever he attacked. This time around, Barry and Team Flash put a plan in action to lure Zoom in and try and beat him. It shows initiative and it’s brave, but some like Jay call it foolish. The set-up for the rest of the episode is done and what follows is nothing short of awesome.

Fake Dr. Light escapes from her prison in a rather ingenious way, but just before this she reveals she just wants to get away from Zoom. It’s obvious from the last episode and this one that Fake Dr. Light fears Zoom and just wants to be free of him. She is not an evil person, but she is a thief and just wants to be free. Speaking for myself, I hope the character dies and is never seen again. She’s a one-off villain that isn’t all that interesting.

As part of Team Flash’s plan to lure in Zoom, Linda Park assumes the temporary identity of the Fake Dr. Light. It’s a risky plan, and on some level it’s also pretty stupid putting a regular civilian in harm’s way just to go after a man who’s trying to kill the Flash. Linda could very well die here and Flash would, of course, blame himself. The stakes are high and the trap is set...

As a side note, it’s interesting to see that on Earth-2, Robert Queen became the Arrow and Oliver died on the Queens gambit. A little old to be a super-hero, hm, Robert? And Earth-2 Dr. Wells is still a jerk...

And then Barry reveals to Linda that he is the Flash. This was unexpected but also necessary. Linda needed to know why she is risking her life and to believe she could do what everyone is expecting her to do. It’s not often a normal person is asked to take on such a huge risk. But it’s a risk Linda is willing to take and perhaps it’s one she will end up regretting considering what happens to Barry in his fight with Zoom. That sets up more emotional, and tense, scenes later down the road.

Again, Patty Spivott has next to nothing meaningful to do in this episode other than just flirt with Barry and talk to her partner about issues of trust. This is such a waste of such a wonderful character...I do like her, but I really wish the writers would give her something to do and give more dimensions to the character. Hard to believe some fans on the net are actually saying this about Patty Spivott: “She is what Felicity should be.” So, they are saying they want Felicity to have nothing to do while being almost completely one dimensional? Fans are weird.

Then the trap does not work according to plan. Well, not according to their plan because Zoom reveals he isn’t stupid. This turns out to be a great thing because it means he isn’t a mindless thug with Superspeed. Nevertheless, Zoom does come through the breach and fights the Flash and proves that he is faster than Barry by soundly beating him. And then humiliates the Flash by holding Barry up for the reporters and the police as she shows them a beaten and battered hero.

But then Zoom shows his utter stupidity by leaving the Flash alive instead of killing him. A smart villain would have done this. But we all know that Flash has to survive and triumph in the end so of course Barry does survive. Flash may have lost his speed but we know he gets it back.

If there is one thing this episode has proven, it’s just how big of a threat Zoom is. He’s a bigger threat than the Reverse Flash ever was and it’s going to take everything Team Flash has, as well as Barry, to beat him in the season 2 finale (and it better not end on another freakin’ cliffhanger!).

Hopefully, this is the last we see of the Fake Dr. Light and Linda pretending to be her...

ZOOM IDENTITY THEORY: Well, "Harry" reveals Zoom "was" human. That sure puts a damper on my theory that he has no secret identity. Still, I think it still has merit, just needs a little adjusting and can still work. He just needs to be a human who is no longer human and has chosen to be Zoom 24/7. Other than that, my top theory still works.

4 our of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, in both the Arrow & Flash TV series, there has been a main problem with all the female heroic characters since the start ...

It is only my opinion and I may be the only one to think that ... but when I watch the episodes, I don't believe in the female characters, even Felicity & Dr. Snow.

It is probably due to the source material (the portrayal of girls in Silver Age comics) or the influence of Smallville on Arrow & Flash, I don't know.

... but the female characters are unbelievable.
The only two exceptions being Felicity & Dr. Snow, all the other female heroic characters are untrustworthy, naive and shallow.
The worst are the two main love interests : Laurel Lance and Iris West. They have the worst dialogs, they are clueless about what is happening around them and, when they start to know the truth, they are most of the time totally useless.
Felicity & Dr. Snow are a bit more complex characters but even they are not on par with the male characters.

It is not as obvious on the Arrow show as it is on the Flash show because, well, ... I think that the dialogs are the worst part of the Arrow show and the main weakness. Thus, it doesn't change anything, whether the characters are male or female. The dialogs are bad anyway.

On the contrary, on the Flash show, most characters are likeable and the dialogs are usually quite good. Grant Gustin has charisma and the other actors are very good (especially Danielle Panabaker).
Unfortunately, during season 1, both Iris West & Linda Park were portrayed as dull girls and I really, really hope that will change in future seasons.
