Quote:Unfortunately, in both the Arrow & Flash TV series, there has been a main problem with all the female heroic characters since the start ...
Quote:It is only my opinion and I may be the only one to think that ... but when I watch the episodes, I don't believe in the female characters, even Felicity & Dr. Snow.
Quote:It is probably due to the source material (the portrayal of girls in Silver Age comics) or the influence of Smallville on Arrow & Flash, I don't know.
Quote:... but the female characters are unbelievable.
The only two exceptions being Felicity & Dr. Snow, all the other female heroic characters are untrustworthy, naive and shallow.
The worst are the two main love interests : Laurel Lance and Iris West. They have the worst dialogs, they are clueless about what is happening around them and, when they start to know the truth, they are most of the time totally useless.
Felicity & Dr. Snow are a bit more complex characters but even they are not on par with the male characters.
Quote:It is not as obvious on the Arrow show as it is on the Flash show because, well, ... I think that the dialogs are the worst part of the Arrow show and the main weakness. Thus, it doesn't change anything, whether the characters are male or female. The dialogs are bad anyway.
Quote:On the contrary, on the Flash show, most characters are likeable and the dialogs are usually quite good. Grant Gustin has charisma and the other actors are very good (especially Danielle Panabaker).
Unfortunately, during season 1, both Iris West & Linda Park were portrayed as dull girls and I really, really hope that will change in future seasons.
I used to not like Iris but honestly the things I disliked about it her they resolved. She knows Barry likes her, she knows Barry's secret and now she has a respectable career instead of being a blogger (oh the eyerolls that caused). I wouldn't say I love her but everything I disliked about her has been addressed and remedied. And I liked how she stood up to her mother in a recent episode...Iris can kind of be a doormat or someone the male characters lie to in order to protect. Iris had the same problem Laurel and Thea had. The girl characters not in the circle of trust get down right annoying. Once Thea and Laurel knew Oliver's secret on Arrow both characters improved dramatically. I used to hate Thea now I love her and Laurel has improved leaps and bounds.
Iris has definitely improved and I'm fine if they don't pair her with Barry this season...she's still getting over Eddie. But I'm hoping Patty sleeps with Barry...he hasn't gotten lucky yet on this show. I'm sick of Barry waiting around for Iris.
As for Linda...I never found her boring. Patty is kind of boring but I liked Linda. I wish Barry slept with her...it seemed odd that never happened and it made Linda seem irrelevant. Maybe once Wally shows up (they sure are taking their sweet time with that) maybe Linda can find love. She's more interesting than Iris.
I've always felt Caitlin is going to be paired up with Barry in season 3. Every show does that...the male lead will go through all these girls and then realize how great his platonic female friend is. I strongly believe that by season 3 Iris will be totally into Barry while Barry is with Caitlin. The Caitlin will be killed off or go evil or something. When Barry realizes he still loves Iris and as soon as they finally get together she's going to get sucked a thousand years into the future. Seen it a million times.
