Amidst the confusing contradiction one thing to bear in mind is producers have gone on record to say that everything the Jay Garrick Team-Flash have been living with has told them is a version of the truth. In other words the Jay who relates how he fought Zoom and was pulled through the Singularity is not being entirely honest.
So if you take the view that the real Earth-2 Jay is the captive Man in the Iron Mask and that Zoom is a Hunter Zolomon, then by the logic suggested in the most recent episode this Team-Flash Jay we have been following is a Hunter Zolomon/Zoom playing a role we first saw Eobard Thawne play last season - using deception to hide in plain sight and be close to Barry Allen, and his speed to be in two places at once when necessary. It helps to explain why Zoom has frequently been so all-knowing as well - he is in the perfect place to be kept abreast of Team-Flash's activities.
If the example of Trajectory is to be seen as a significant hint then Zoom is dying, quite possibly due to using Velocity-9 or some variant while mixing with the Speedforce energy. Which adds some weight to him being a Hunter Zolomon, trying to be a speedster without the natural connection to the Speedforce that Barry and Jay have. In a sense he is the dope user of athletics, the cheat, who will do anything to win the race, drug use being one of those things.
One of the niggles that bothers me though is that the character is so incredibly well organised and intelligent that the idea of him being Hunter Zolomon or some random man off the street is unconvincing. This is a man very well connected, above normal intelligence, and very well prepared and knowlegable. He has to have been planning events, and using his speed, for years. So for a man so dangerous and able is it really feasable for him to be Zolomon or some other suddenly granted Superspeed?
Something is still missing I think.
