One of my favorite characters of all time has returned - Wally West.  He's younger than before, but it's the red-headed version I grew up with.  Details can be found here.  But warning, there are major spoilers ahead.

Admittedly, I was never a fan of Barry coming back because of how invested I'd become in Wally.  But I'm hopeful about the possibilities Rebirth presents and looking forward to the infinite mass punching guy who was held the title as the 'fastest man ever' coming back on the scene.

I have mixed feelings about this. I'll start with the positive first.

YES! The REAL Wally West is BACK! For me, he is THE Flash, THE FASTEST Man alive! \:\) (And if anyone wants to dispute this, tell me and we'll take it to the Battleboard. I've got a lot of scans to back up my claims).

So glad DC brought him back. But hopefully, he will be a part of the DC lineup so he won't just linger around doing nothing. I'd like to see him and follow his adventures. And if DC decides to keep Wally de-aged, then I'd like to see him take his rightful place as Kid Flash and by Barry's side while Black Wally goes off somewhere else. I don't care where, just away from the Flash titles.

On the negative side, I HATE this! Why de-age Wally? Why do away with the marriage to Linda? Wally had kids with her for pete's sake! What happened to them?! By bringing Wally back as a kid, it's INSULTING to us Wally West fans. It basically does away with decades of great storytelling and hard work. *Sigh*

It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?
