Okay. When did this "someone's gotta be a prisoner of the speed force" thing start? It was when Savitar escaped. Wally and then Jay had to take his place.

    So, who did Savitar replace?

That might be interesting to explore. But I think they've more or less run out of speedsters: Barry, Wally, Jesse, Eobard, Zoom, Jay, Black Flash, Savitar have all been used and Johnny Quick doesn't exist apparently. Impulse maybe? I assume time isn't linear in the speed force (then again maybe it should be I guess...that's what motion is..things moving through space and time linearly)

This makes no sense. WHEN did the requirement that someone be trapped in there start?

It kind of reminds of a plot on Angel where Gunn had to take Lindsey's place in a hell dimension.

The writers really didn't think this one out. (Not the first time this has happened. Thawne evaporates in the season one finale because he no longer has any ancestry, and yet Barry's mother stays dead? HUH?)

Can anyone here pull an explanation on WHY Barry (or ANY speedster) has to be a prisoner of the Speed Force out of...uh...anything?

At this point it's hard to explain any plot on this show. There's so many time travel inconsistencies it's impossible to come up with a logical explanation for anything. Legends of Tomorrow being a thing hasn't helped either.
