No, we don't know anything for certain.
But as far as I know - and there's been no reason given in the show to assume otherwise - the Crisis has nothing to do with either Barry or Thawne. Neither of them initiate it, though at least one of them takes part in it.
It's all down to the Monitor/Anti-Monitor (If they're going a similar route to the comics), and again there's no reason to assume their lives are any different in these divergent realities.
As for the Crisis 'adapting'...
How? Why? It's a spatiotemporal event, not a sentient creature.
