Bro the show just doesn't work that way. The past gets changed on this show. It's an integral part of the show's mythology that time travelers do in fact overwrite the present. I don't know how to keep arguing because you are just simply in denial about a fundamental plot point on this show.
I'd agree wholeheartedly if they'd only ever shown one single timeline, but they've shown plenty. Earth-2, Earth-39, Earth-X: All divergent realities.
It's truer to say that divergent timelines are the norm on the show.

You don't LIKE the way the show does time travel. That's great and all and lord knows the writing on this show can be pretty dumb but ultimately whether you or I like the way time travel works on this show is irrelevant. So many plot points on this show revolve around the timeline being overwritten that I don't see how we can still be arguing about this. It's be like arguing for a week that magic never occurred on Buffy...you could make that argument...but it would be a silly argument because so much of the show revolves around magic.
Yeah, you're right. When even Greg Berlanti's take on it is: 'Time travel is ridiculous anyway, so don't worry about whether it would actually work or not', it's glaringly obvious they haven't put much thought or effort into it. So why worry about it?
Plus, it's the real-world question I'm more interested in at the moment: Have they pulled the Crisis forward in expectation of the show ending this year (Or next)?
