I had an advertisement for this that I cam across online some time ago, but am unable to locate it in my folders, so - Do the Superman radio plays of the early 1940s onwards still exist in the archives?
And for that matter are there any notable examples of similar vintage adventure serials (such as The Shadow) that unequivocally do not exist anymore...?
I know nothing about the subject of whether it was easy, possible, or if it was even policy, for broadcasters to make hard recordings of such ephemeral radio material in that 1930s/40s era, and save and store it for the longterm. In Britain it generally was not the case that broadcasters could afford, or thought to, save broadcast serials or plays. Or at least very rarely did they do so. But I've long been curious as to whether the medium was similarly seen as so disposable in the United States back in those early pre and post-war years. Any knowledge or insight on the subject would be appreciated!
Many of them still survive, but sadly not all.
