Previous Post It's the Doom Patrol and the bad guy is Cobalt Man! Amazing banner KATS! I love it. The X-Men part of the image is from Uncanny X-Men #79, the Doom Patrol part of the image is from Doom Patrol #86, and I think the Zabu is from Ka-Zar #10.

Thanks you two! I can't believe it's been 12 years since this banner originally debuted, and that likely means I made it 13 years ago (back then there was a significant wait to have a banner displayed).

I was always looking to combine two or three covers into one image, this one likely had the best result. The Doom Patrol cover leapt out at me that they could be looking at anything I desired. But what should they be looking at? The Marvel Universe of course. And who in the Marvel Universe should they looking at? The instant answer was their analogues the X-Men.

So with that settled I made the banner, I can't believe I had the patience to change the red sky to blue on the X-Men cover (that probably consumed a couple of hours).

As I recall Zabu was an after thought as Larry and Rita did not appear to be looking at the action but instead at a rather significant void in the banner. So I dropped in Zabu, and really it's been more than 50 years since the X-Men tackled Cobalt Man, so who's to say he wasn't there?
